Roulette
We can only assume the origins of this highly popular casino game. Some say it was derived from the Italian game called Biribi, while some think that French mathematician Blaise Pascal is the father of roulette. In fact, seems that he invented it purely by chance when he tried to create the machine that would demonstrate perpetual motion. Whoever it was, he certainly made a revolution in betting games.
In roulette, one can choose to place a few different types of bets: a bet on a single number, multiple numbers, the colour red or black, even or odd numbers, low (1-18) or high (19-36) numbers. Roulettes can either be electronic or operated by a croupier. To get the number, the wheel spins in one direction, while the ball spins in the opposite direction until it eventually loses momentum and falls into one of the coloured and numbered pockets on the wheel. The winnings are then paid to anyone who has placed a successful bet.
The original roulette has sustained significant changes over history, so multiple types of this game can be found today. The rules depend on the number of zeroes that are on the wheel, so a single zero stands for French or European style roulette, double zero is the American style roulette and triple zero one is also known as ‘Sands Roulette’.
